The Graduate School of Education and Psychology prepares students to serve in classrooms and therapeutic environments, where they will strengthen individuals and the resilience of society as a whole.
For 55 years, Pepperdine’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology (GSEP) has continually expanded and adapted to accommodate society’s ever-growing need for educators, researchers, and mental health professionals. By providing students access to top-notch faculty available in a variety of in-person and online course options, these compassionate individuals are given flexible opportunities to refine their God-given gifts for teaching and serving those in need of life-changing guidance.
With 10 master’s- and doctoral-level degree options to choose from, those seeking further education and licensure in the educational and psychology fields can fine-tune their area of professional focus to best prepare for their career following graduation. And with an alumni body of more than 26,000 men and women, graduates will never have to venture far to find a network of fellow Waves who will support them beyond their time at Pepperdine.
GSEP demonstrates an active dedication to diversity among its students and faculty alike, creating a learning environment that enhances interactions in the classroom, at practicum and student-teaching placements, and in all other community activities. By filling its faculty roster with proven scholar-practitioners, the school’s administration commits to one of its key values and ensures that students learn skills to succeed as future teachers, school principals, therapists, and advocates. Additionally, GSEP offers several opportunities for students to develop and hone their therapeutic and educative skills through opportunities to learn and serve at local organizations such as the Los Angeles Union Rescue Mission and the Urban Fellows Program.
A gift to GSEP can help support a number of initiatives, including scholarships, mentoring programs, a student emergency fund, the school’s Community Counseling Clinics, the Social Entrepreneurship and Change Program, and Aliento, The Center for Latinx Communities, among many other worthwhile programs and efforts. GSEP alumni specifically can donate through the , to offer financial support as well as a firsthand endorsement of their time at Pepperdine, further encouraging current students who have chosen to seek their degrees from GSEP.
My time at Pepperdine has been a treasure I will cherish as I turn the pages to my next chapter. My program has been rooted in intentional guidance, care, and compassion. I have felt the Lord’s kindness in every professor, classmate, and moment with my students. Even on the hard days, I knew that I could step foot into my classroom and the community I had built here would help me over any hurdles.
