Chris Tomlin Inspires Students During Visit to Pepperdine
MALIBU, California 鈥� Grammy Award-winning artist Chris Tomlin visited Pepperdine this
week as the University鈥檚 inaugural Artist and Worship Ambassador. Tomlin engaged with
students through mentorship, exclusive discussions, and an unforgettable time of worship.
鈥淚鈥檓 excited about everything happening with Pepperdine worship and how God is moving in the students,鈥� Tomlin said. 鈥淚 want to help the next generation. I want to pass the baton forward.鈥�
During his time on campus, Tomlin led mentorship sessions with student songwriters from Waves Worship, where he provided guidance on the craft of worship music, shared his career journey, and helped the students workshop a song. He also participated in an exclusive Q&A, answering questions from students about the role of a worship leader, personal faith, how he has dealt with fame as a Christian, and how to discern God鈥檚 calling.
鈥淚t's a blessing our campus has received the chance to host someone who the Lord uses so mightily,鈥� said Pepperdine student Jonas Hamilton. 鈥淗e works hard for the Lord, and receiving mentorship from someone who has spent a long time serving God is really powerful, but especially Chris Tomlin鈥攁 musician, who the Lord has used mightily in such an evident way to reach so many different people around the world.鈥�
Tomlin鈥檚 visit culminated in a moving worship service at , Pepperdine鈥檚 weekly worship gathering, where 500+ students, faculty, and staff experienced a night of powerful worship led by one of Christian music鈥檚 most recognized voices.
鈥淚t's really awesome to just have Chris Tomlin here and to get to see how the fruits of his life have blessed other people鈥� said Pepperdine student Amelia Morden. 鈥淧ersonally, I connect 100 percent with God through music. That's how I found the Lord. So much of Chris Tomlin鈥檚 music has been fundamental to my experience and to my testimony. It's really cool to get to see that connect full circle, live.鈥�
Tomlin鈥檚 visit is part of his ongoing role as Pepperdine鈥檚 inaugural Artist and Worship Ambassador, a position announced by 色片软件免费 President Jim Gash in February. 鈥淎s a Christian university, we want our students to know Who is worthy of worship and how we can enter into a relationship with the creator of the universe,鈥� said Gash. 鈥淐hris Tomlin is uniquely positioned to cultivate a heart of worship among our students.鈥�
